• Mimi Dietrich is a quiltmaker, teacher, UMBC alum, and author from Catonsville, Maryland, known especially for her passion for applique and Baltimore Album quilts. With more than 50 years of teaching experience, 17 published books, and countless workshops across the U.S. and beyond, she has inspired generations of quilters to create and share their own Baltimore traditions. Her work blends artistry, history, and community, making her a cornerstone of the quilting world. She participated in the first quilting competition in 1981.

  • Monique Crabb is a Mexican-American artist whose work spans fiber, installation, video, and photography, exploring identity, the body, and collective histories through feminist theory and traditional craft processes. A co-director of Baltimore’s artist-run space Current Space for nearly a decade, she has played a key role in shaping the city’s contemporary arts community. She holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from UMBC, and currently teaches in the Fiber department at MICA.

  • Christa C. Gilliam is a social work educator, fiber artist, mom and wife living in Baltimore MD. She is an Associate Professor at the Morgan State University in the School of Social Work. A California native, her experiences and expertise spans across both public and private non-profit sectors serving children and families in diverse communities. Her current research focuses on social work workforce development, leadership, professional mentoring, and social work policy and practice in urban communities.  In her spare time, she can be found in a sewing class where she has discovered a passion for quilting.
